Welcome to the Storage Networking
Industry Association (SNIA) Storage Management Forum (SMF) Storage
Management Initiative (SMI) Tutorial. The objective of this tutorial
is to provide an educational resource outlining the purposes and
goals of the SMI.
The intended audience for this
tutorial include marketing, sales, press and analysts alike.
Individuals who desire more technical information about the SMI-Specification
(SMI-S) should review the SMI Technical Tutorial
Tutorial Requirements
To view this tutorial you will need the following:
- Netscape Navigator, Firefox or Internet Explorer
- 800 x 600 or higher screen resolution
Tutorial Navigation
There are two ways to navigate through this tutorial:
- Index - The index in the left pane lists the major topics
discussed in this tutorial. Select any item in the list to go to
the first page for that topic. For example, if you are already
familiar with the SMI and are only interested in learning about the Benefits to End Users, select the Benefits to End Users item
in the index.
- Next - To go through the tutorial in order, just click on the
Next image in the upper or lower right hand corner.
- Back - To go to a previous page, just click on the Back image
in the lower or upper left hand corner.
- At the top of each page, the current position in the tutorial
is displayed. For example, the Conformance Test Program page displays
SMI Tutorial > Conformance Test Program
Each item is a link to
that topic. So, selecting SMI Tutorial returns you to the first
page of the tutorial, which is this page.
