The Storage Networking Industry Association
The Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) mission is to advance the adoption of storage networks as complete and trusted solutions. As a vendor-neutral trade organization, the SNIA works in conjunction with its members to make storage networking technologies understandable, simpler to implement, easier to manage, and recognized as valued assets to the business process.

Storage Management Forum
The Storage Management Forum (SMF) was created by the SNIA to focus on building and promoting broad organizational consensus on the execution of the Storage Management Initiative (SMI). The mission of the SMF is to drive the first common and interoperable management backbone for storage networks.

Conformance Test Program
The Conformance Test Program (CTP) mission is to provide conformance test standards. The SNIA’s CTP is an integral step to bringing third party conformance to the marketplace by providing a ‘trusted’ process to verify product conformance to standards and specifications. The first suite of master tests were developed for the SMI-Specification (SMI-S).

Technical Council
The SNIA's Technical Council is a select group of acknowledged industry experts who guide the SNIA's technical efforts. It creates a high level "roadmap" for the industry, validates Work Group charters, proposes new Work Groups, reviews architectures submitted by Work Groups, and is the SNIA's technical liaison to industry standards organizations.

SMI Committee
The SNIA's SMI Committee provides oversight and coordination to each related functional component in the SNIA and to launch new programs such that goals are met and tangible value accrues to member companies on a time line that is respected by the industry.

Technical Work Groups
The SNIA's Technical Work Groups (TWG) work together to develop technical working documents, specifications, and methodologies that accelerate the adoption of storage networking.

These technical work groups consist of volunteers from the SNIA member companies that collaborate together to develop technical solutions and to promote the adoption of storage networking by creating deliverables required to meet the goals of the Technical Council, as managed by the Technical Director.

Technical Steering Group
The SNIA's Technical Steering Group (TSG) reviews and oversees the work produced by the various TWGs.

The TSG is comprised of technical leaders from the SNIA Technical Council as well as chairs from Technical Work Groups and ensures that the SMIS Specification provides interoperability and functionality that is respected by implementers of the interface.
