Enhanced Zoning and Enhanced Zoning Control Subprofile

The Enhanced Zoning and Enhanced Zoning Control Subprofile is referenced by the Fabric Profile as an optional enhancement that allows a Client to manage aliases for zones in a Fabric. A zone alias is an alternative name for a port number or WWN. For example, “Lab” could be used as an alternative to “50:01:a3:80:22:3f:bb:12”.

Using this Subprofile, a Client can do the following:

  • Create a Zone Alias for the Fabric
  • Add the Zone Alias to the Fabric
  • Delete a Zone Alias from the Fabric

Note that this Subprofile is contingent upon support for the Zone Control Subprofile. This is to say that it builds upon the capabilities defined in the Zone Control Subprofile. Information about the zones themselves are defined in the Fabric Profile.
