Welcome to the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) SMI
Technical Tutorial.
This tutorial will familiarize you with the SNIA, the Storage
Management Initiative (SMI) and the Storage Management Initiative
Specification (SMI-S) 1.1.0. After completing this tutorial, you
will have sufficient knowledge of the organization of information in
SMI-S to properly interpret its contents. Such understanding will
allow for the proper implementation of an SMI compliant product.
The tutorial is designed for users who have no prior knowledge of
SMI and SMI-S 1.1.0.
It is designed for SMI application developers and SMI instrumentation
developers. However, this tutorial assumes that you have a basic
understanding of the Common Information Model (CIM) and Web Based
Enterprise Mangement (WBEM) concepts and principles. If you are
unfamiliar with CIM and WBEM, please read the
CIM Tutorial
first.
