Indications Subprofile

The Indications Subprofile is referenced by the Server Profile as an optional enhancement that allows a SMI Agent to support indications. This Subprofile must be supported by SMI Agents that support Profiles and Subprofiles that require indications. If this Subprofile is implemented, a Client will be able to perform the following management tasks:

  • Create a subscription to an indication
  • Use the CIM-XML protocol for delivery of the notification

Optionally, a vendor can choose to enhance this Subprofile by allowing a Client to do the following:

  • Ask to be notified of instance lifecycle events (create, modify, delete)
  • Ask to be notified for alert indications
  • Determine the query operations supported such as simple join versus complex join
  • Define which events to monitor
