Conformance Test Program | SMI-Lab | References

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) created the SMI-Lab program in 2003. Its purpose is to provide an environment that helps accelerate the delivery of SMI-S conformant products to market. A SMI-Lab program organizes and coordinates several activities. One is the creation and management of a 7 x 24 testing environment at the SNIA Technology Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Supplied with equipment from all leading storage product vendors, participants have access to this equipment for testing purposes. Another is the series of meetings called Plugfests where storage management application vendors and storage product vendors can informally test interoperability between their SMI-S products.

The SMI-Lab5 program ran from July 2004 through April 2005. It included seven scheduled Plugfests. Some of the SMI-Lab5 Plugfest activities focused on

  • Enhancing the scripted demonstrations delivered at Storage Networking World (SNW)
  • Testing Profiles for Conformance Test Program (CTP) release
  • Client developer feedback
  • CTP validation of SMI-S 1.1.0 Profiles

The SMI-Lab6 program runs from July 2005 through June 2006. Currently, five Plugfests are scheduled. They will take place at the SNIA Technology Center. Participants must be SNIA members. Registration is required before access to the testing environment and Plugfest attendance is allowed.
